Drum-TAOdrum-tao.jpg (103425 bytes)

Drum-Tao is a breathtaking spectacle of controlled frenzy, melding the epic, ancient sounds of the Japanese taiko drum with colorful costumes, contemporary music, and acrobatic dance moves drawn from martial arts. An explosive, youthful, vibrantly modern take on a traditional art from — and a visual and sonic tour-de-force!Barrage is a high-octane fiddle-fest that The Denver Post calls "too wow for words!" It routinely wins comparisons to Riverdance and has been called "Stomp with fiddles," but this breathtaking, high-powered show is completely unique. Barrage mixes a generous sampling of traditional world fiddle music - from Irish jigs to gypsy music to Caribbean folk - with pulsating, modern beats and layered vocal arrangements, all performed by its hip, dynamic, eye-catching cast of young virtuosos, who play and sing and dance with seemingly inexhaustible abandon. "This amazing show, ideal for the whole family, is abouth as blithe, blissful and beguiling as entertainment gets!" (Sid Smith, Chicago Tribune).

Jackson County Community Concert Association -
Casey MacGill's Blue 4 Trio

From their press release:
Some call it the Nat "King" Cole Trio meets the Mills Brothers. Others call it Fats Waller meets Fats Domino. However described, Casey MacGill's Blue 4 Trio sweeps the audience back through time. Boogie-woogie pianist MacGill leads bassist Matt Weiner and percussionist Mike Daugherty through soulful renditions of pre-World War II swing classics, complete with impeccable three-part vocal harmonies (and even a little ukulele).

The members of the trio have been featured in Broadway's smash musical Swing, the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London. Soft or loud, raw or mellow, Casey MacGill's Blues 4 Trio plays it all, and keeps it 100% real.

Moon over Buffalo

This backstage farce by the author of Lend Me a Tenor tells the story of Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple who are not exactly the Lunts.   While on tour in Buffalo in 1953 in Cyrano de Bergerac (“the revised, one nostril version”) and Noel Coward’s Private Lives, fate give these thespians one more shot at starring roles in the movie version of The Scarlet Pimpernel.  And director Frank Capra (gasp!) is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. A valentine to theatre hams everywhere!
